A group of 29 public schools in West Central Minnesota have formed a consortium to access funding and programming available through the federal Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006. These schools partner with the four-campus system of Minnesota State Community and Technical College (MSCTC), and comprise what is known as the Lakes Country/MState Perkins Consortium in the State of Minnesota.
The Lakes Country/MSCTC Perkins plan includes the following goals and objectives for secondary and post-secondary career and technical programs within the consortium member educational institutions:
  1. Designing Programs of Study
  2. Effectively Utilize Employer, Community and Education Partnerships
  3. Improve Services to Special Populations
  4. Provide a Continuum of Service Provision for Enabling Student Transitions; and
  5. Sustain the New Consortium Structure of Secondary and Postsecondary Institutions
