About Assistive Technology
Assistive Technology (AT) includes any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially, off the shelf, modified, or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities. Assistive Technology can benefit students across all disability areas, e.g., individuals with hearing impairments, visual impairments, physical impairments, etc. Assistive Technology services can range from simple modifications to sophisticated, multipurpose devices. Examples include enlarged print, communication boards, microswitches, modified or alternate keyboards, and voice output aids.
