Lakes Country Academy exists to serve students with educational and behavioral challenges by providing transformational support and skills (through evidence-based practices) in a highly individualized environment.Vision Statement
Every student has the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential as individuals in order to contribute to all aspects of their community.The Lakes Country Academy offers two different types of programming for students in special education who experience various and continuous maladaptive behavioral difficulties in their resident school district.
Academy Program: designed to meet the needs of students in special education who are having behavior issues in their resident school district and need a separate site program to find success. In addition to academics, programming includes social-emotional learning classroom instruction with licensed professionals provided based on the individual student's educational needs in a highly structured environment with a low student/staff ratio. Referrals are made by the student’s resident school district and/or special ed cooperative.
SUN Program: designed to meet the needs of students in special education with severe disabilities with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, DCD: Severe to Profound, DCD: Mild to Moderate, and Severely Multiple Impaired (other diagnosis also accepted) that are not finding success in their resident school district. Many of the students have minimal to no verbal skills. Behaviors and communication skills are the main focuses of this program, in a highly structured environment with a low student/staff ratio. Referrals are made by the student’s resident school district and/or special ed cooperative.
